How to Hex without a Wand - JB Quilt Designs
In Harry Potter’s world, a hex is stronger than a jinx but not as dangerous as a curse. In the quilting world, working with this sixsided shape can bring on both jinxes and curses (ask me how I know this).
There are many specialty rulers to choose from to create this unique shape, but for this project you are going to create your patches using a standard quilt ruler with 30⁰ and 60⁰ markings on it. This table runner uses a hexagonal centre in one of three styles and buils lengthwise using elongated half-hexies.
It is time to get comfortable with 60⁰. No jinxes or curses - just hex away!
Choose a dynamite fabric with lots of large scale movement or collect the equivalent in scraps to create one of these three runner styles. Note that the fabric requirements are for a runner ~ 17” x 54”. Instructions for varying the length or the width are included
