Welcome to the "How to make a T-Shirt Quilt" Class (4 hours)

Discover the art of transforming cherished t-shirts into a timeless quilt with our T-Shirt Quilt Class. This sophisticated workshop guides you through preserving memories by repurposing favorite shirts—whether from special events, sports teams, or beloved bands—into a beautiful, functional keepsake. Elevate your crafting skills while creating a personalized heirloom that celebrates your unique story.

You can use anything, your childs Jerseys, your College shirts, maybe you or a friend run marathons and you want to keep that as a memory quilt.  It is endless what you can do.

What you'll learn

• You will create 4 blocks, we suggest using non-precious shirts for this class, our goal is to teach you how to take different shirts, size them, stabilize them, what to do with difficult textures etc.
• This is a TECHNIQUE class only, so you can take the skills you've learned back to your precious items and create beautiful items from there.

Supplies:

• Sewing Machine
• 4 non-precious T-Shirts (Bring them to class uncut as cutting T-Shirts is part of the class)
• 3 half meters of fabric that coordinate with your selected T-Shirts
• 4 Meters Pellon SF101 interfacing, Black or white depending on the colour of your T-Shirts (Black for black T-Shirts and White for all other colours
• Scissors (not your best scissors to cut apart your T-Shirts)
• Ball point needles 80 for your sewing machine
• 50 weight thread in a colour that complements your T-shirt
• 2 Pressing cloths (can both be cotton/muslin or 1 cotton and 1 silicone). Squares of muslin work very well for pressing. The bottom pressing cloth must be large enough to cover your entire block to ensure none of the sticky fusible ends up on the ironing board or woolen pressing mat
• Woolen pressing mat that is larger than your block (if you have one to avoid waiting in line for the ironing boards in class)
• Your own iron (also to avoid waiting in line in class)
• Spray bottles if not using the steam on your iron
• Pen and paper
• Rotary cutter
• Large square ruler is very helpful in squaring up your T-shirt. I use a 21.5-inch square ruler, but you can bring the ruler that is the same size as the blocks you will be making. (this size is determined by the size of the motifs on your special T-Shirts you have at home)
