Materials and Supplies

To create this card, you'll need the following materials and supplies:
  • Brother™ ScanNCut machine
  • 6″ x 12″ white cardstock card (rounded corners)
  • Green and gold glittered paper
  • Red fabric scrap
  • Holiday sentiment stamp
  • Black archival or solvent-based ink (to stamp)
  • Fabric support sheet (CASTBL2)

Instructions

Follow these step-by-step instructions to create your own beautiful poinsettia card:

Step 1: Prepare the Fabric

Take your red fabric scrap and securely place it on the standard mat with the fabric support sheet. For cotton fabric, refer to the settings provided in the Quick Start Guide for fabric. Before cutting the actual design, it's always a good idea to perform a test cut to ensure the settings are correct.

Step 2: Cut the Poinsettia Design

Once your ScanNCut machine is set up, it's time to cut the poinsettia design. Load the design file into the machine and select the appropriate settings for cutting fabric. The ScanNCut machine's precision cutting technology will ensure clean and accurate cuts every time.  Don't forget to cut out your green leaves and gold flourish as well.

Step 3: Assemble the Card

After cutting the poinsettia design, carefully remove it from the mat. Take your 6″ x 12″ white cardstock card and fold it in half to create the card base.

To add a touch of elegance and sparkle to your card, cut out some leaves from the green glittered paper and arrange them around the poinsettia. Additionally, cut out small gold accents from the gold glittered paper and place them strategically on the card.

Place the poinsettia cutout on the front of the card, positioning it as desired. You can use adhesive to secure it in place. Allow the glue to completely dry before sewing into place.

To create a quilted effect with your poinsettia, place your top and bottom petals to position your card. Once your placement is set, sew down your first top petal 3/4″ of the way. Once finished, apply pillow fill to the opening to puff up the fabric. Once full, sew the remaining opening close. Repeat on the bottom petal and then the side petals, always mirroring each petal as you go. This will help keep your flower aligned.

Once your flower is complete, glue a center to your flower made of the gold glittered paper.

Step 4: Add the Finishing Touches

Finally, use the holiday sentiment stamp and black archival or solvent-based ink to stamp a heartfelt message inside the card.

And there you have it! Your beautiful poinsettia card is now ready to be sent to your friends and family. The ScanNCut machine makes it easy to create intricate and professional-looking designs, allowing you to showcase your creativity and spread holiday cheer.
