- Orange vs. Purple Templates — Some hoops include both; color indicates freearm width compatibility. Orange suits models with a stainless steel arm; purple suits models with a white arm.

- Small Hoop Usage — Can be used with or without a freearm adapter. 7 Series and 8 Series machines have built-in freearm embroidery; no adapter needed.
- Mega Hoop Note — Older templates show the BERNINA logo in orange or purple; current templates show a line drawing of the #26 foot with a red BERNINA logo.
- Maxi Hoop — Single template compatible with both 7 Series and 8 Series models.
- Jumbo Hoop — Includes a single template for 8 Series; optional 7 Series template available separately.
- Older Models — artista 165, 170, and 180 use older-style hoops with a single template only.
