Welcome to the Hovea Quilted Coat Class Class (10 Hours )
Please register for Class 1 and you will be registered in all subsequent classes.
Class 1 - 1hr of planning and understanding your pattern, no sew
Class 2, 3, 4 - 3 hours each, sewing and homework
What you'll learn:
Options are endless for the Hovea quilted coat! You can apply any patchwork pattern you like to this coat, or make it in plain quilted cloth, with any quilting stitch pattern that you like! From Duster length to cropped length, with bound edges, or a shawl banding. The first class in this series will be a planning session, so bring your ideas and inspiration!

(CDN$30 for printed pattern, CND$26 for PDF pattern)
Note: You may also use the Grainline Tamarack pattern (US$18 for printed, US$16 for paper) but it will have a different fit, different silhouette, different pockets, and does not have the shawl banding.
The PDF pattern can be printed on 8 ½ x 11” sheets to be taped together
Make sure that the pages are PRINTED AT 100% or “No scaling”. The first page has a box to check the measurements to ensure the pattern is printing out at 100%
Supplies to bring to first planning class:
- Your ideas for patchwork patterns and quilting stitches whether they be tactile samples, books, or on your pinterest board
- Your questions! We’ll discuss if you should pre-shrink your fabric, what stage you want to wash it in, if you want to quilt the fabric before cutting out the pattern pieces, etc.
- Pattern printed at 100% (measure the box on the first page of the pattern to confirm that it printed out to the correct measurements) We can go over any questions you have about taping the pdf pattern together, or selecting a size
- Tape for assembling PDF pattern
- Tape measure
- Paper scissors
Supplies to bring to subsequent classes:
- Pattern printed at 100% (measure the box on the first page of the pattern to confirm that it printed out to the correct measurements), taped together (if pdf)
- Sewing machine including walking foot, if you have one.
- Pins
- Marking tools (chalk, Frixion pen, etc)
- Thread
- Scissors
- Fabric and batting (amounts depend on length and style, refer to pattern for estimates)
- Ruler, rotary cutter
